I guess everything is bigger in Texas. According to Motorsports Talk, Texas Motor Speedway’s new jumbotron, “Big Hoss”, will be the largest high-definition video board in the world.

Motorsports Talk reported that the Guiness Book of World Records will officially certify the large screen before Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race. The screen is 218 feet wide and 94.6 feet tall. Many people consider 40-inch HDTV’s to be big, and Big Hoss is nearly five times wider. The structure itself stands 12 stories high, and is also 79 percent larger than the Jerry Jones’ big screen at AT&T Stadium, according to ESPN.

NASCAR now has the two largest video boards in sports. In Sports Illustrated’s “Largest Video Screens in Sports” gallery, Charlotte Motor Speedway’s enormous screen is second. It is only 200 feet wide, and 80 feet tall. The big screen hanging above the Dallas Cowboys’ field is only 160 feet wide and 72 feet tall.

Big Hoss is even bigger than screens for drive-in theaters. Bengies Drive-In Theater in Baltimore only has a screen measuring 120 feet wide and 52 feet high.

Maybe Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage will air more than racing on his new video board this weekend. According to USA Today, NASCAR moved the Sprint Cup Series race from Saturday night to Sunday, and kept the Nationwide Series Friday night in order to avoid conflict with March Madness. This year, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four is at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The track is located in Fort Worth, Texas, which is only about 30 miles northwest of the stadium. Can someone say viewing party?
